Pre & Post Care
Before Your Visit
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to a special event. Redness, swelling, and bruising may be apparent in that time period.
- Avoid any dental procedure(s) 2 weeks prior to any filler procedure(s).
- It is recommended to discontinue the use of Aspirin, NSAIDs, Ginkgo Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising or bleeding. Please consult with your primary physician prior to discontinuing any medications.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, high-sugar foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. All of these factors may increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
- Starting Arnica supplements at least 2 days prior to injections may help with bruising.
- Let the provider know if you have a history of cold sores. An antiviral may be prescribed.
- You may not have an active rash in the area being treated.
- You may not be pregnant or breastfeeding for Botox and or fillers.
Post Care Treatment
- Redness or sensitivity might be present (and last up to a few hours).
- Use Tylenol for any soreness.
- Avoid significant movement or massage of the treated area unless instructed by the provider.
- Avoid makeup for 12 hours.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
- Avoid extensive sun or heat for 72 hours.
- If you have swelling, you may apply a cool compress for 15 minutes each hour if instructed to do so by the provider.
- Sleep face up and slightly elevated. This will also help with swelling.
- Postpone any dental procedure(s) for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
- It is recommended that you wait at least 2 weeks before having any other facial treatments
- (i.e., facials, massages, lasers, ultrasounds, micro-dermabrasion).
- Syringes of filler will be kept for 8 weeks following injections for any touch-ups.
Microneedling Post Care
- Redness or sensitivity might be present (and last up to a few days).
- Use Tylenol only as needed for any soreness.
- Peeling may start 3-5 days after the procedure.
- Do not pick or scratch at treated skin.
- Avoid strenuous exercise or sweating for 24 hours due to open skin.
- Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- If exposed to the sun, always use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours.
- For melasma and scarring, RTC every 4-6 weeks; 4-6 treatments are recommended for best results.
- For age management, RTC every 12 weeks; 4-6 treatments are recommended for best results.
Post Microneedling Skincare Instruction
- Cleanse your face with cleanser morning and evening.
- Keep skin moisturized throughout the day.
- May use makeup after 24 hours.
- May restart regular skincare routine, including exfoliants (retinol, glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid) in 1-3 days or once the skin is no longer sensitive and healing.
- Post-procedure skincare kit can be discontinued once the skin no longer feels dry, or tight and has completely healed.
- The skincare provided to you is intended for use during healing and is ideal for dry, sensitive skin.
- Prolonged use for oily, acne-prone skin can cause breakouts.
RF Post Care Instructions
- Apply ice pack 3 - 5 times per day, 3 - 5 minutes per treated side for the next 3 days to help reduce swelling.
- Remove hydrocolloid dressing the day after treatment and wash with a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil. Apply Neova CU3 Repair. This is to be used 2 x a day for 5 days post-treatment.
- Keep the area clean and dry.
- Treat skin gently over the next couple of days, and avoid rubbing and scratching.
- Avoid using harsh products such as Retin A, AHAs, and HQ for 1 week.
- Do not use products such as Hydrating Green Tea Serum, Growth Factors, or Intense
- Antioxidant Serum until 1 week post-treatment.
- Avoid direct sunlight and use SPF during the course of our entire treatment.
- Avoid alcoholic drinks for at least one week after the treatment.
- Avoid places and things that may create an infection for 48 hours, i.e., pets, lakes, rivers, hospitals, daycares, etc. Make sure to wash your hands frequently and avoid touching the treated area.
- Contact the office if the treated areas have:
- Prolonged itchiness, edema (swelling), erythema (redness), bruising, or pain.
- Painful swallowing.
- Return to the clinic after one week to be evaluated.
